A simpler loan range: Charity Loans and Green Loans

Charity Bank Australia now lends through two products — Charity Loans and Green Loans — so organisations spend less time working out which door to knock on.

We have simplified our lending down to two products. Charity Loans fund what an organisation needs to do its work; Green Loans fund what makes a building cheaper and cleaner to run. Between them they cover everything we used to split across a longer list of named facilities.

The old range asked applicants to classify themselves before we had spoken to them. Organisations were choosing a product from a web page, discovering halfway through that a different one fitted better, and starting again. Two products removes that step: you tell us what you are trying to do, and we work out which of the two it sits under.

Charity Loans are for buying, building or refurbishing property, for refinancing existing borrowing, for working capital while contracted income arrives, and for the equipment and vehicles a service depends on. Green Loans cover energy and sustainability work, including the Energy Efficiency Programme for buildings an organisation already occupies.

Terms are set by what the loan is for. A loan to buy a building is written over a longer period than a loan to bridge a grant that lands next year; a fixed rate suits an organisation that needs certainty in its budget, a variable rate suits one that expects to repay early. We talk that through rather than publishing a grid, because the right answer depends on your income, not on a table.

Making an enquiry is deliberately light. Tell us who you are, what the money is for and roughly what your income looks like, and we will tell you quickly whether it is something we can lend against. Existing customers can start the conversation in secure messages inside online banking; new organisations can use the enquiry form on the loans pages.

All lending is subject to eligibility, assessment and approval by Charity Bank Australia, and security may be required. Nothing here is an offer of credit or a recommendation, and professional advice should be taken before any course of action is pursued.
