About Us
Charity Bank Australia is owned and funded by charities and social investors. So when we say we are a bank built for the social sector, we mean it literally.
The bank for people driven to change the world
We bring together savers who want their money to do something useful with charities, community organisations and social enterprises that need a lender willing to understand them.
Every deposit held here funds lending to the Australian social sector. Nothing goes to fossil fuels, gambling, tobacco or armaments, and no part of our profit leaves the sector.

Our story
Charity Bank Australia was set up to answer a question the banking market kept getting wrong: why is it so hard for a well-run charity to borrow against the building it already owns? Community organisations were being turned away for having donated income, volunteer boards or a balance sheet that did not look like a small business.
The answer was a bank of the sector’s own — one that takes savers’ money and lends it back to charities, community housing providers, social enterprises and the organisations that hold Australian communities together. Since our first loan we have kept to that single purpose.
We are an authorised deposit-taking institution regulated by APRA, and our conduct and credit licensing sit with ASIC. Online banking runs on the BankBits platform provided by Sandstone Technology Pty Ltd.

Vision
A society that fosters vibrant communities and a healthy planet, giving every person in Australia the opportunity to thrive.
Mission
To support and strengthen impact-driven organisations that improve people’s lives, while giving savers a way to put their money to work for positive social change.

Owned and funded by charities and social investors
Our shareholders are charitable foundations, trusts and social investors. There are no outside owners expecting a return at the sector’s expense, and no pressure to lend anywhere our mission does not reach.
That ownership is not a badge. It decides who sits on our board, what we are willing to finance and where our profit goes — back into lending, so the next organisation gets an answer too.
Deposits are protected under the Australian Government’s Financial Claims Scheme, up to A$250,000 per account holder per authorised deposit-taking institution.
Where you bank matters
Savers fund the loans. Borrowers turn them into housing, care, food relief and community buildings. Start wherever you come in.
